1    AN ACT concerning government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by
5adding Sections 13 and 195 as follows:
 
6    (5 ILCS 490/13 new)
7    Sec. 13. Monarch Month. The month of May of each year is
8designated as Monarch Month to be observed throughout the State
9as a month to honor the Monarch Butterfly, which is the
10official State insect of the State of Illinois.
 
11    (5 ILCS 490/195 new)
12    Sec. 195. Day of the Horse. The fifth day of March of each
13year shall be designated as the Day of the Horse, to be
14observed throughout the State as a day to encourage citizens to
15honor and celebrate the role of equines in the history and
16character of Illinois, and to recognize the benefits of the
17equine industry to the economy, agriculture, tourism, and
18quality of life in Illinois.
 
19    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20becoming law.
