SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

30 ILCS 105/10.5 new

Amends the State Finance Act. Provides that no salary or per diem shall be paid to a member of a State board or commission that meets part-time. Defines "part-time". Provides that a member of a State board or commission may, however, be reimbursed for actual travel and other expenses as authorized by law. Effective July 1, 2017.

AN ACT concerning finance.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The State Finance Act is amended by adding Section 10.5 as follows:

(30 ILCS 105/10.5 new)

Sec. 10.5. Board and commission member salary payment. Beginning on July 1, 2017 and notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, no salary or per diem shall be paid to a member of a State board or commission that meets part-time for serving on that board or commission. For purposes of this Section, "part-time" means less than 40 hours per week. A member of a State board or commission may, however, be reimbursed for actual travel and other expenses if so authorized by law. This Section does not prevent an employee of a board or commission from being paid a salary.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2017.
