HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives recognize young children as one of the State's
4most precious and valuable resources; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The National Association for the Education of
6Young Children is the nation's largest early childhood
7organization; the association seeks to serve and act on behalf
8of the rights, needs, and well-being of all young children,
9with a primary focus on the provision of educational and
10developmental needs and services; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The Illinois Association for the Education of
12Young Children (ILAEYC) is the State affiliate of the National
13Association for the Education of Young Children; ILAEYC has
14over 2,000 members and 15 local affiliate chapters around the
15State dedicated to the same mission; and
 
16    WHEREAS, The National Association for the Education of
17Young Children has designated the week of April 16-20, 2018 as
18the Week of the Young Child; the month of April is designated
19as Month of the Young Child in the State of Illinois; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The purpose of the Month of the Young Child is to
21focus public attention on the needs of young children and their

1families and to recognize the individuals, early childhood
2programs, and services that are dedicated to meeting those
3needs; and
 
4    WHEREAS, There are members of the organization, such as
5teachers, program directors, school administrators, agency
6personnel, college faculty, and others, who continually go
7above and beyond what is expected to see that these needs are
8met; and
 
9    WHEREAS, These individuals are considered to be true
10Children's Champions, and go further than anyone else to make a
11positive difference in the lives of children everywhere; and
 
12    WHEREAS, The actions of Sue Bielenda, DuPage Chapter of
13Illinois AEYC (Lombard); Karen Foster, East Central Chapter of
14Illinois AEYC (Champaign); Stephanie Herling, Metro East
15Chapter of Illinois AEYC (Belleville); Brenda Long, Heart of
16Illinois (Pekin); Diane Morrow, Joliet Area Chapter of Illinois
17AEYC (Joliet); Aimee Robinson, South Suburban Chapter of
18Illinois AEYC (Chicago Ridge); and Lisa White, Capitol Area
19Chapter of Illinois AEYC (New Berlin); represent shining
20examples of those in our communities doing good things for
21children; these individuals have been nominated by their local
22affiliate chapters and designated by the Illinois Association
23for the Education of Young Children as Illinois 2018 Children's

1Champions; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
3HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
4recognize the Illinois 2018 Children's Champions and their
5dedication, hard work, and significant contributions to the
6State of Illinois; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
8presented to each of the Illinois 2018 Children's Champions in
9recognition of their efforts.
