HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Dr. Lori L. Sundberg on
4her appointment as President of Carl Sandburg College; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Sundberg was a first-generation college
6graduate; she earned a cosmetology certificate from Sandburg
7before returning to school to major in economics and history at
8Knox College; she earned a master's degree in business
9administration from Western Illinois University and a
10doctorate in business administration from St. Ambrose
11University; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Sundberg has been an educator and
13administrator for more than two decades; she has also served on
14many local, state, and national boards in a variety of
15capacities, including the National Railroad Hall of Fame, the
16Cottage Hospital Board, the Knox County Economic Development
17Partnership, and the Illinois Council of Community College
18Presidents; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dr. Sundberg is a tireless advocate for students
20who come from first-generation college families because she
21intensely believes in the transformational effects a college
22education can have on students and their families; and

1    WHEREAS, Dr. Sundberg is the College's sixth president and
2the first alumnus and female president in the College's
3history; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Dr. Sundberg has been married to Rick for 34
5years; she has two adult stepchildren, two dogs, and a horse;
6she is an avid reader, enjoys her pets, yoga, and dressage;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10congratulate Dr. Lori L. Sundberg on her appointment as
11President of Carl Sandburg College, and we commend her
12leadership and dedication to students and their education; and
13be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Dr. Sundberg as an expression of our esteem and
16respect.
