HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize Zeigler-Royalton Coaches vs.
4Cancer for their exceptional work in raising money to fight
5cancer; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Coaches vs. Cancer is a joint program between the
7American Cancer Society and the National Association of
8Basketball Coaches; goals for the Coaches vs. Cancer program
9include funding research and patient services, raising
10awareness of risk factors, highlighting the efforts of the
11schools that participate, and encouraging students to embark on
12a lifetime of service to their communities; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Zeigler-Royalton Coaches vs. Cancer was first
14organized during the 2009-10 school year; and
 
15    WHEREAS, In the eight years of participation by
16Zeigler-Royalton High School, Coaches vs. Cancer has raised
17over $110,000; it has led the State of Illinois in funds raised
18every year in which they have participated; in the most recent
19year, Zeigler-Royalton High School was seventh in the entire
20nation for funds raised, an amazing feat for such a small
21school; and

1    WHEREAS, The success of Zeigler-Royalton Coaches vs.
2Cancer has been recognized by the Southern Illinoisan, the
3Peoria Journal Star, and numerous other papers; WSIL-TV 3 has
4done several features, and WSIU and KFVS have also provided
5coverage; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8recognize Zeigler-Royalton Coaches vs. Cancer for their
9exceptional work in raising money to fight cancer; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to Zeigler-Royalton High School as an expression of
13our esteem and respect.
