HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Ainad Shriners Circus on the occasion of its 50th anniversary and on its tradition of entertaining Southern Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The original Shriners Circus, known as the Shrine Circus and Arabian Fete, was held on January 21, 1922 in East Saint Louis, with entertainment provided by the John W. Moore Co.; and

WHEREAS, Despite bad weather, the organizers of this first circus persevered through the winter to entertain Illinois families with thrilling acts and animal performances; and

WHEREAS, At some point, the original circus was discontinued; it was revived in 1967 and has taken place every year since; and

WHEREAS, The modern Ainad Shriners Circus continues to wow and entertain Illinois families with its unique performances and circus acts from around the world, including its Bengal Tigers, clowns, elephants, and acrobatics; and

WHEREAS, The Ainad Shriners Circus continues the same fun and family friendly tradition that has lasted for 50 consecutive years; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Ainad Shriners Circus on its 50th anniversary, and that we wish it 50 more years of continued operation and success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be sent to the Ainad Shriners Circus as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
