HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Central Catholic
4High School on its recognition by the United States Department
5of Education as a 2017 National Blue Ribbon School; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Central Catholic High School was nominated for
7this award by The Council for American Private Education; out
8of the 33,000 private schools in the nation, only 50 received
9the 2017 National Blue Ribbon award and only six percent of
10schools in the nation have ever been named a National Blue
11Ribbon School; Central Catholic High School, an exemplary
12high-performing school, is the first and only high school in
13Bloomington-Normal to receive this recognition; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Central Catholic High School is a comprehensive,
15co-educational, four-year high school with a
16college-preparatory emphasis within a Christ-centered
17environment; the standardized test scores of the students are
18among the top 15 percent in the nation; for the past two years,
19the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) has presented every
20Central Catholic athletic team with the IHSA Team Academic
21Award, which is given to teams who average at least a 3.0 grade
22point average during their season of play; and

1    WHEREAS, In 2017, in their index of "America's Most
2Challenging High Schools," the Washington Post ranked Central
3Catholic High School as the most challenging high school in the
4state of Illinois, south of Chicago and its suburbs; students
5acquire twenty-first century skills and graduate as
6college-ready young men and women; and
 
7    WHEREAS, This recognition is a reflection of the hard work
8of the faculty and staff, both past and present, who believe in
9the mission of Central Catholic High School and who come to
10work every day ready to make a difference in the lives of their
11students; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14congratulate Central Catholic High School on its 2017 National
15Blue Ribbon School recognition, and we recognize the dedication
16of the faculty and staff to its students; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be sent
18to Sean Foster, Principal of Central Catholic High School as an
19expression of our esteem and respect.
