HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, On Friday, March 2, an unthinkable tragedy occurred on the campus of Central Michigan University; during the incident, the village of Bellwood and the 7th District lost one of its finest, Officer James E. Davis Sr., and his wife Diva (Dye-Vah) Davis; and

WHEREAS, Officer Davis, who served as a part-time police officer in Bellwood for over 20 years, was also a police officer with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs; additionally, Officer Davis was an Army veteran who did a tour of duty in Iraq in 2003 and served in the Illinois National Guard for 24 years before his retirement in 2014; and

WHEREAS, Diva Davis was a devoted wife, mother, real estate broker, and American Airlines Flight Attendant who was loved and respected by everyone who knew her; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we keep the Davis family in our hearts and prayers and join together in a moment of silence in memory of Officer James E. Davis Sr. and Diva Davis.
