1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The State of Georgia recently dissolved its
3 partnership with Delta Airlines as a result of the airline
4 discontinuing its business ties with the National Rifle
5 Association (NRA) following the school shooting in Parkland,
6 Florida; and

7     WHEREAS, Illinois recognizes the underlying impetus of
8 Delta Airlines to merit its decision to sever its alliance with
9 the NRA; and

10     WHEREAS, Delta Airlines will inevitably begin to
11 reconsider its strategic location beyond Hartsfield-Jackson
12 Atlanta International Airport in the city of Atlanta, Georgia;
13 and

14     WHEREAS, The State of Illinois remains a welcome and open
15 environment to attract business, investment, and economic
16 competition within its territorial jurisdiction; and

17     WHEREAS, Air travel is the primary and central mode of
18 transit for Illinoisans and Americans, both across the country
19 and abroad; and

20     WHEREAS, The airport infrastructure in the State of

1 Illinois is equipped to withstand and sustain the influx of
2 high volume air traffic within its airspace and on its runways;
3 therefore, be it

4     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
5 HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6 welcome and encourage Delta Airlines to consider Illinois as a
7 destination to relocate their business headquarters and fleet
8 of aircraft; and be it further

9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 delivered to Delta Airlines CEO Ed Bastian.
