HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Juanita
4Louise Tryon, who passed away on February 6, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Juanita (Wolfe) Tryon was born in Dugger, Indiana
6to Ora and Ann Deckard Wolfe on August 20, 1920; she married
7Floyd Tryon on March 28, 1942; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Juanita Tryon lived in Terre Haute, Indiana for 40
9years and raised three children in the same house on North
10Sixth Street; in 1968, she went to work for the Terre Haute
11Star newspaper as the women's page editor and food editor; when
12she retired in 1981, she moved to Evansville, Indiana to help
13manage her husband's company, Clean Air of Evansville; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Juanita Tryon published A Legacy of Love, a family
15history about growing up during the depression era, when she
16was 96; the 2017 book provided the reader with an understanding
17of life in America during difficult economic times, a time when
18many people lost hope and some left their homes and farms never
19to return; others gained strength through family, hard work,
20and their churches; the average farm family had little or no
21money, but nearly everyone faced similar challenges; these
22difficult times not only instilled a good work ethic in

1children, but also a strong commitment to each other; this
2commitment is the legacy of love that bound this family so
3tightly together, with a rich family heritage; it is the fabric
4that builds strong communities; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Juanita Tryon was an active member of Bethel
6Church in Crown Point, Indiana; she was a service leader for
7various community programs; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Juanita Tryon was preceded in death by her
9parents; her husband, Floyd; her sister, Eva; her four
10brothers, Dale, Jim, Max, and Robert; and her
11great-granddaughter, Ana Hick; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Juanita Tryon is survived by her sister, Ruth
13Johnson, her sisters-in-law, Virginia Wolfe and Marge Shirley;
14her children, Susan McMurray, Janice (James) Kosiba, and former
15State Representative Michael (Cathy) Tryon; her 11
16grandchildren; and her eight great-grandchildren; therefore,
17be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20mourn the passing of Juanita Louise Tryon and extend our
21sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
22and loved her; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to the family of Juanita Tryon as an expression of
3our deepest sympathy.
