HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize Black Diamond Harley-Davidson and its owners for their scholarship program, which officially marks its ten year anniversary on April 21, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Rodney Cabaness and Shad Zimbro, owners of Black Diamond Harley-Davidson in Marion, Illinois, created the Black Diamond Harley-Davidson Scholarship Program over ten years ago; and

WHEREAS, The program, in conjunction with John A. Logan College, Shawnee Community College, Southeastern Illinois College, and Rend Lake College, offers a scholarship of $1,000 to a graduating senior from each high school in Southern Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The program, coordinated with the help of Jeremy Pinkston and Shannon Woodworth, has now reached a milestone of distributing $500,000 to aid Southern Illinois students pursue higher education; and

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Black Diamond Harley-Davidson and its owners for their dedication to the students of Southern Illinois; and we commend their commitment to assisting students in their efforts to further their education from high school to college which adds to the educational and economic development of the State of Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Rodney Cabaness and Shad Zimbro as a symbol of our respect and gratitude.
