HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ivy Lewis
4Parker of Chicago, who passed away on December 12, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ivy Parker was born in the Ninth Ward of New
6Orleans, Louisiana to Ivy L. Davis and Effie Jones on December
731, 1950; in 1964, her family migrated to Chicago, where she
8attended John Marshall High School; following high school, she
9studied at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge,
10Kennedy King College in Chicago, and Chicago State University;
11in 1977, while on a break from her collegiate studies, she
12married Richard Samuel Parker; she earned a degree in computer
13science and a minor in mathematics from Chicago State in 1984;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Ivy Parker was a math teacher in the Chicago
16Public Schools and taught at Phillips, Dunbar, Tesla, Harlan,
17Orr, and Nancy Jefferson; she retired in 2009 and then
18established a successful home tutoring business; in 2015, she
19became a managing partner and founder of Suite Little Feet
20Incorporated; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Ivy Parker was preceded in death by her parents
22and her sister, Mary; and

1    WHEREAS, Ivy Parker is survived by her husband, Richard;
2her son, Jasand; her grandson, Ryan; her brothers, Stephen Sr.
3and David; her nieces, Deidra, Kelli, and Keri; her nephews,
4Stephen Jr., Samuel Jr., Sterling, Deon, and Austin; her
5sister-in-law, Sandy; and her cousins, Nona, JoAnn, Aisha,
6Dawud, and Rome; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
9mourn the passing of Ivy Lewis Parker and extend our sincere
10condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
11her; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Ivy Parker as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
