SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Charles L. "Chuck" Toner Jr., who passed
4away on January 31, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Chuck Toner Jr. was born near Casey to Charles L.
6Toner Sr. and Lula Belle (Red) Toner on March 5, 1928; he
7graduated from Roxana High School in 1946 and immediately
8enlisted in the United States Navy; he served proudly for three
9years and was stationed in Hawaii; he married Rosalie Lang in
10Wood River; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Chuck Toner Jr. retired from Illinois Power in
121989; he and his wife them became Florida snowbirds; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Chuck Toner Jr. was the Alton City Bowling
14Champion in 1966; he qualified for the Senior Olympics in 2004
15and participated in the finals; he continued to bowl at least
16two times a week until 2017; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Chuck Toner Jr. was active in the Wood River
18Masonic Lodge #1062 for 62 years; he was a Worshipful Master at
19the Bethalto Lodge #406; he was also a member of the Ainad
20Shrine, Alt-Wood Shrine Club, Wood River Moose Lodge, and the
21South Roxana American Legion; he participated in the Land of

1Lincoln Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in 2012; he was an
2avid fan of the Chicago Cubs; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Chuck Toner Jr. is survived by his wife, Rosalie;
4his daughter, Debbie (Ross) Eggebrecht; his sons, Mike (Teresa)
5Toner and Ted (Cathy) Toner; his grandchildren, Josh and Brooke
6Toner, Matt and Kristen Toner, Cory and Caroline Crandall, Jake
7and Jessica Toner, Zachary Toner, Andrea Kasten (Harry Reed),
8Tommy and Emily DeGrand, and Meghan DeGrand (Jake Inman); his
9great-granddaughters, Ella, Emma, and Ava Toner, Jocelyn and
10Nora Toner, and Corinne Crandall; his brothers, Jim and Maurice
11Toner; his sister, Judy Toner Cohn; and his many
12step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Charles L. "Chuck" Toner Jr. and extend our sincere condolences
16to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
17it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Chuck Toner Jr. as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
