SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dohndre Cornelious "Dre" Hughes of Springfield, who passed away on February 23, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Dohndre Hughes was born in Buffalo, New York to Stanley Hughes and Dawn Stewart on March 7, 1998; he was raised by his father and his mother, Erica Hughes; and

WHEREAS, Dohndre Hughes enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, playing basketball, cooking meals, and burning skillets; and

WHEREAS, Dohndre Hughes never left a conversation without saying "I love you" or giving someone a hug; he had a smile that could brighten anyone's day and an infectious laugh; and

WHEREAS, Dohndre Hughes was preceded in death by his grandmother, Everlee Mathis and his uncle, Greg Hughes; and

WHEREAS, Dohndre Hughes is survived by his parents, Stanley and Erica Hughes and his mother, Dawn Stewart; his brothers, Nicholas Johnson, Chasten Hughes, and Da'Von Stewart; his sisters, Devonicia and Dierra Stewart; his aunts, Jean (Ron) Black, Aurelia (Larry) Clark, Gwen (Ted) Harrison, and Carol and Cheryl Draper; his uncles, Thayer Harrison, James Hughes, and Vernen Todd; his cousins, Adora and Arya Onyemelukwe; his grandmother, Barbara Hughes; and his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dohndre Cornelious "Dre" Hughes and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dohndre Hughes as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
