| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Kenneth L. "Ken" Carlson Sr., who passed | 4 | | away on March 24, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ken Carlson was born to Lowell and Viola Carlson | 6 | | on July 17, 1943; he graduated from Moline High School in 1961, | 7 | | where he was an avid bowler and won the Dispatch Bowling | 8 | | Tournament his senior year; he served in the United States Army | 9 | | for two years, mostly notably in Bad Kissingen, Germany; he | 10 | | married Diane Vroman in Moline on October 17, 1964; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Ken Carlson worked as a welder at John Deere | 12 | | Harvester in East Moline; he was in charge of the John Deere | 13 | | Harvester Welding Lab and accomplished his goals of becoming a | 14 | | Certified Welding Inspector and a Certified Welding Educator; | 15 | | he retired in 2003; he taught welding at Black Hawk College, | 16 | | Scott Community College, and several other community colleges; | 17 | | and | 18 | | WHEREAS, Ken Carlson volunteered with Habitat for Humanity | 19 | | and Kids Against Hunger; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Ken Carlson enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and | 21 | | spending time with his family and his companion, Lady; he |

| 1 | | coached baseball and softball for his son and daughter's grade | 2 | | school and junior high teams; he was an avid fan of the Chicago | 3 | | Cubs and Chicago Bears; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Ken Carlson is survived by his wife of 53 years, | 5 | | Diane; his children, Kenneth Jr. (Deanna) Carlson and Tracy | 6 | | (Joe) Berhenke; his grandson, Luke Carlson; his | 7 | | step-grandchildren, Ally and Reese Berhenke; his | 8 | | step-great-grandchildren, Kobey, Avah, and Paisley; his | 9 | | sisters, Karen VanQuathem, Kathy Murphy, and Gayelene (Bruce) | 10 | | Johnson; his brother, Ronald (Ruth Ann) Carlson Sr.; and many | 11 | | beloved nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | Kenneth L.
