SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James Joseph Lerch Sr. of Rock Island, who passed away on May 6, 2018; and

WHEREAS, James Lerch was born in Rock Island to Joseph H. and Julia VanDenHende Lerch on November 1, 1940; he served in the U.S. Navy and married Patricia Kester at South Park Presbyterian Church in Rock Island on July 31, 1965; and

WHEREAS, James Lerch worked as a cold mill operator at Alcoa for 36 years; he was also the chief of police in Sherrard for 25 years and served 10 years with the Milan Auxiliary Police; and

WHEREAS, James Lerch was a member of South Park Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge No. 1014 AF & AM in Moline, and the Evening Lions Club in Rock Island; he was also a Mason of the Scottish Rite; he enjoyed gardening, canning, golfing, and bowling; and

WHEREAS, James Lerch was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sue Horsman; and

WHEREAS, James Lerch is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children, James (Julie) Lerch Jr., David P. (Julie) Lerch, Melissa K. (Dale) Partain, and Paul M. (Charity) Lerch; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James Joseph Lerch Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James Lerch as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
