SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James Joseph Lerch Sr. of Rock Island,
4who passed away on May 6, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Lerch was born in Rock Island to Joseph H.
6and Julia VanDenHende Lerch on November 1, 1940; he served in
7the U.S. Navy and married Patricia Kester at South Park
8Presbyterian Church in Rock Island on July 31, 1965; and
 
9    WHEREAS, James Lerch worked as a cold mill operator at
10Alcoa for 36 years; he was also the chief of police in Sherrard
11for 25 years and served 10 years with the Milan Auxiliary
12Police; and
 
13    WHEREAS, James Lerch was a member of South Park
14Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge No. 1014 AF & AM in Moline,
15and the Evening Lions Club in Rock Island; he was also a Mason
16of the Scottish Rite; he enjoyed gardening, canning, golfing,
17and bowling; and
 
18    WHEREAS, James Lerch was preceded in death by his parents
19and his sister, Sue Horsman; and
 
20    WHEREAS, James Lerch is survived by his wife, Patricia; his

1children, James (Julie) Lerch Jr., David P. (Julie) Lerch,
2Melissa K. (Dale) Partain, and Paul M. (Charity) Lerch; nine
3grandchildren; and one great-grandson; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6James Joseph Lerch Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to
7his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of James Lerch as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
