SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Thomas Spurgeon of Bethalto, who passed
4away on February 8, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Thomas Spurgeon was born in Alton to Joseph H. and
6Theresa C. (Balke) Spurgeon on February 2, 1940; he married
7Linda Sue Tarrant in Rosewood Heights on December 1, 1962; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Thomas Spurgeon was a Knights of Columbus
9insurance agent for 35 years prior to his retirement in 2010;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Thomas Spurgeon was a member of Our Lady Queen of
12Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto, and a past member of St.
13Kevin Catholic Church for 40 years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Thomas Spurgeon was preceded in death by his
15parents and his siblings, Joe Spurgeon, John Spurgeon, Joseph
16Spurgeon, Helen Claxton, Emma Jean Auten, and Leona Hohnsbehn;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Thomas Spurgeon is survived by his wife, Linda;
19his children, April (Jeff) Myers, and Thomas (Becky) Spurgeon;
20his grandchildren, Brian (Sarah) Kalkbrenner, Andrew (Gabe)

1Kalkbrenner, Emily Kalkbrenner, Thomas (Nichole) Spurgeon, and
2Molly (Jacob) Safford; his great-grandchildren, Brianne,
3Riley, and Tyler Kalkbrenner, Macie and Mia Safford, and Lucas
4Kalkbrenner; and his siblings, Joe Claxton, Bill (Barb)
5Spurgeon, and Rose (Ron) Beiermann; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Thomas Spurgeon, and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Thomas Spurgeon as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
