SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary Catherine Shaw of Springfield, who passed way on September 1, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Mary Shaw was born in Springfield to Don and Kathleen Shaw on May 12, 1976; she graduated from Sacred Heart-Griffin and earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois; she married Shawn Berry at Sunset Pointe in Disney World in Orlando, Florida on May 15, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Mary Shaw was employed as the Director of Government Affairs at the Illinois Teacher's Retirement Association, a position she had held since 2013; previously, she worked in communications for the Illinois Senate Democratic Caucus; and

WHEREAS, Mary Shaw was preceded in death by her father; and

WHEREAS, Mary Shaw is survived by her husband, Shawn, and her son, Lucas; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mary Catherine Shaw and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Shaw as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
