SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marjorie J. Du Vivier of Godfrey, who
4passed away on September 5, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marjorie Du Vivier was born in East St. Louis to
6Olin Moody and Katharine Fairbrother Attebery on November 2,
71922; she graduated from the Mary Institute in St. Louis; she
8earned her Bachelor of Arts from Mount Holyoke College in
9Massachusetts and later attended the University of Alabama, SIU
10Edwardsville, and Lewis and Clark Community College; she
11married Edward K. "Ned" Du Vivier M.D. in St. Louis on April
1212, 1947; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marjorie Du Vivier moved with her husband to Alton
14in 1950, where she was active in many community service
15organizations; she was particularly interested in working with
16handicapped adults and children and was a charter member of the
17Junior Service League of Alton (later the Junior League of
18Greater Alton); she served with the Alton Community Service
19League for 25 years and was on the Leisure Friends Steering
20Committee for 24 years; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Marjorie Du Vivier was preceded in death by her
22husband, Ned; her parents; and her brother, Olin Merry

1Attebery; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Marjorie Du Vivier is survived by her children,
3Joseph A. (Toni Rizzo) Du Vivier, Charles (Kathryn) Du Vivier,
4Edward (Mateboho) Du Vivier, Katharine K.K. Du Vivier, David Du
5Vivier, Louise (William) Alsing, and Eleanor (Michael) Dunn;
6her nine grandchildren; and her two great-grandchildren;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Marjorie J. Du Vivier and extend our sincere condolences to her
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Marjorie Du Vivier as an expression
15of our deepest sympathy.
