SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lowell "Whitey" Reiser of Hampshire, who passed away on August 6, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Lowell Reiser was born in Burlington to Edward and Lorena (Seyller) Reiser on March 6, 1931; he graduated from Hampshire High School in 1949; he served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict; he married Arlene Engel at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Hampshire on February 9, 1952; and

WHEREAS, Lowell Reiser retired from the Masonite Corporation, now International Paper Co.; and

WHEREAS, Lowell Reiser was a life member and past Commander of the Hampshire Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8043 and a member of the American Legion Post 57 of Elgin; he was also a member of the Burlington/Hampshire Senior Citizens, the Hampshire Historical Society, the Fox Valley Model T Club, and the Northern Illinois Steam Power Club; he was a lifelong and active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church; in May 2015, he was honored as Veteran of the Month for community service by the City of Elgin; in 2013, he received the Earl Engel Award for community service in Hampshire Township; and

WHEREAS, Lowell Reiser was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Jason Lichthardt; his brother, Floyd Reiser; and his brothers-in-law, Norman Deihs, Gayland Schendel, and Morris Kiefer; and

WHEREAS, Lowell Reiser is survived by his wife, Arlene; his daughter, Darlene (Dale) Lichthardt; his son, Daryl (Helen) Reiser; his grandchildren, Amy and Joseph Dobzynski, Daniel and Ashley Lichthardt, and Randy Reiser; his stepgrandson, John Burton; his great-granddaughters, Eileen Dobzynski, and Grace and Sophia Lichthardt; and his sisters, Leila Deihs, Rita Kiefer, Joan (Henry) Thies, and Jean Schendel; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lowell "Whitey" Reiser and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lowell Reiser as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
