| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Martha E. "Mari" McGinnis of Peoria, who | 4 | | passed away on November 19, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mari McGinnis was born in Washington to Benjamin | 6 | | and Sanora (Schmidt) Pfeffinger on November 6, 1938; she earned | 7 | | her bachelor's degree in education from Bradley University; she | 8 | | married C. Dirk McGinnis at the First Federated Church in | 9 | | Peoria on October 24, 1958; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Mari McGinnis worked for District 150; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Mari McGinnis was an avid member of the Pi Beta | 12 | | Phi Sorority, the PEO, the Peoria Quilt Club, and the Ivy Club; | 13 | | she was an amazing cook, an avid reader and seamstress; for | 14 | | many years, she made costumes for the Corn Stock Theatre; she | 15 | | loved the warm weather, especially in the British and United | 16 | | States Virgin Islands; she enjoyed sailing, and she and her | 17 | | family chartered sailboats all over the Caribbean for nearly 30 | 18 | | years; during her retirement, she and her husband spent 31 days | 19 | | sailing, beginning on the Illinois River and ending in Tarpon | 20 | | Springs, Florida, and lived on a sailboat for nine years; she | 21 | | was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who | 22 | | dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Mari McGinnis was preceded in death by her parents | 2 | | and her brothers, Lyle and Donald Pfeffinger; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Mari McGinnis is survived by her husband, Dirk; | 4 | | her children, Roz (Ron) Helms, Arran McGinnis, Polly (Mike) | 5 | | McNally, and Meghan (Arnel) Tejero; her grandchildren, | 6 | | quintuplets, Shannon, Bevin, Samantha, and Benjamin Helms, | 7 | | Meredith (Justin) Rager, Keegan and Colleen McNally, and | 8 | | Lilianna Tejero; her sister, Patricia Liston; and her | 9 | | sister-in-law, Jackie Kinsinger; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Martha E. "Mari" McGinnis and extend our sincere condolences to | 13 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 14 | | further
