| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Oscar Lee Presley Jr. of Roscoe, who | 4 | | passed away on November 13, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Oscar Presley was born in St. Louis to Oscar and | 6 | | Margaret (Husky) Presley on June 25, 1942 and raised in | 7 | | Batesville, Arkansas; he moved north in 1961; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Oscar Presley opened Oscar's Barber Shop in 1966 | 9 | | and joined the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department, where he served | 10 | | for 42 years, 25 years as chief; he was the first volunteer | 11 | | paramedic in Winnebago County and helped get rescue trucks | 12 | | started in the area; he was a founding member of the E911 Board | 13 | | and the Winnebago Fire Chief's Association, where he served as | 14 | | president; he was a member and president of the Roscoe Lions | 15 | | Club; he served as road commissioner from 1970 to 1979; he | 16 | | helped build HRFD Station #1, HRFD Station #3, and the training | 17 | | facility, which was named in his honor; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Oscar Presley became a "snow bird" after his | 19 | | retirement and spent time at his Florida home; he enjoyed | 20 | | coffee with friends, Wannabees, singing, art, gardening, | 21 | | Karaoke, fishing, and spending time with his kids and | 22 | | grandkids; he belonged to ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out); |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Oscar Presley was preceded in death by his parents | 3 | | and his brother, Gerald Presley; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Oscar Presley is survived by his wife, Dean (Goad) | 5 | | Presley; his children, John (Yesenia) Presley and Marcie (Jeff) | 6 | | Ball; his grandchildren, Leah and Logan Ball; and his sister, | 7 | | Sharon (Dave) Thornton; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Oscar Lee Presley Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his | 11 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 12 | | further
