| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Gary J. Aavang of Greenwood, who passed | 4 | | away on November 22, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gary Aavang was born in Woodstock to Rodney and | 6 | | Libbie (Barber) Aavang on December 16, 1956; a lifelong | 7 | | resident of Greenwood Township, he graduated from Woodstock | 8 | | High School in 1975; he attended McHenry County College; he | 9 | | married Michele DeYoung in Woodstock on July 27, 1998; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Gary Aavang was a longtime member of the McHenry | 11 | | County Farm Bureau and the McHenry County Fair Association and, | 12 | | at different times, served on the boards of directors for both | 13 | | organizations; he was a proud past member and current supporter | 14 | | of both the 4-H and FFA organizations; he was passionate about | 15 | | agriculture, and his farmer friends referred to him as the | 16 | | "Secretary of Agriculture'; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Gary Aavang was preceded in death by his father, | 18 | | Rodney Aavang; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Gary Aavang is survived by his wife, Michele; his | 20 | | stepson, Grant (Kate Quinn) DeYoung; his mother, Libbie Aavang; | 21 | | his siblings, Dan (the late Cathy) Aavang, Sarah (Robert Lukes) |
