SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald Eugene "Don" Lenz of Freeport, who
4passed away on December 1, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Lenz was born to LeRoy and Francenia (Taylor)
6Lenz on January 14, 1930; he was a lifelong resident of
7Freeport; after his parents separated, he left high school to
8work full time to support his mother, his three younger
9sisters, and his younger brother; as a teenager, he became the
10head of the family and inspired his younger siblings; no
11stranger to hard work, he continued to work various jobs and
12also earned his GED; he said the best thing he ever did was
13marry Delores "Dee" McDonald on December 8, 1950; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Don Lenz retired from Kelly-Springfield Tire
15Company, where he made many lifelong friends; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Don Lenz was a member of St. Joseph Catholic
17Church; he was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles,
18where he loved playing cards and being with friends; he was a
19devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers; his greatest joy was
20spending time with his family and friends; he will be
21remembered for his quick wit and humor, telling jokes, and
22playing games; and

1    WHEREAS, Don Lenz was preceded in death by his parents and
2his sisters, Delores (Gene) West and Dorothy (Bernard)
3Henderson; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Don Lenz is survived by his wife, Dee; his
5children, John (Becky) Lenz and Ginnie (Daniel) Pflaume; his
6grandchildren, Jeremy (Stephanie) Pflaume, Amanda (Scott)
7Boyea, Kyle (Hayli) Pflaume, Erin (Jonathan) Harless, and Adam
8(Amanda) Pflaume; his great-grandchildren, Gavin, Carter,
9Hayden, Aiden, Joel, Ryan, and Easton; his brother, Robert
10(Peggy) Lenz; his sister, Floreida (Fritzie) Lanes; and his
11many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Donald Eugene "Don" Lenz and extend our sincere condolences to
15his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Don Lenz as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
