SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of John P. Ridder of New Berlin, who
4passed away on December 7, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Ridder was born to John J. and Effie Coker
6Ridder in Jacksonville on October 21, 1923; he graduated from
7Jacksonville High School; he served in the U.S. Army in the
8Philippines from 1943 to 1945, and he was awarded a Purple
9Heart and a Bronze Star for his efforts during the Battle for
10Luzon; he married Agnes "Ag" Taylor, and she preceded him in
11death on January 8, 2015; and
 
12    WHEREAS, John Ridder had a long and distinguished career
13in construction; he was well respected as one of the best
14finish carpenters in the area and worked with several
15generations of the Chumley family; and
 
16    WHEREAS, John Ridder was a life member of the American
17Legion; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Ridder enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling,
19golfing, and rooting for the University of Illinois and the
20St. Louis Cardinals; and

1    WHEREAS, John Ridder was preceded in death by his wife of
268 years, Agnes; his daughter, Beverly Saylor; his sisters,
3Nellie Ridder, Virgil Sperry, Rose Hartmeister, and Clara
4Chumley; and his brothers, George, James, and Andrew Ridder;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, John Ridder is survived by his daughter, Cheryl
7(Bob) Rainey; his son-in-law, Mike (the late Beverly) Saylor;
8his grandchildren, Sean (Jennifer) Saylor, Chris (Julie)
9Saylor, Cara (Jed) Findlay, and Tricia (Graham) Mattes; his
10great-grandchildren, Peyton and Jase Saylor, Ben and Jack
11Findlay, Griffin, Owen and Brooks Mattes, and Delaney and
12McCoy Ridder Saylor; and his numerous nieces and nephews;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16John P. Ridder and extend our sincere condolences to his
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of John Ridder as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
