| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Charles William "Bill" Watts of | 4 | | Havana, who passed away on June 4, 2024; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Bill Watts was born to Clarence "Kak" and Frances | 6 | | Lorine (McGinley) Watts in Havana on February 12, 1935; he | 7 | | joined the U.S. Navy in 1954, and he later served as a medical | 8 | | corpsman in the U.S. Marine Corps; he married Marla Joyce | 9 | | Figle in Havana on August 26, 1960, and she preceded him in | 10 | | death on May 21, 2019; and | 11 | | WHEREAS, Bill Watts worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. | 12 | | Postal Service and at a fish market with his family; he later | 13 | | served as a maintenance worker for the Chautauqua National | 14 | | Wildlife Refuge for 30 years before retiring in 1990; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, Bill Watts served as a firefighter for 60 years; | 16 | | he was a former chief for both the Havana Fire Department and | 17 | | the Havana Rural Fire Protection District, where he was named | 18 | | chief emeritus in 2009; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Bill Watts was a member of the Havana Church of | 20 | | Christ, the Havana Optimist Club, VFW Post #6408, and American | 21 | | Legion Post #138; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Bill Watts was preceded in death by his parents; | 2 | | his daughter, Lori; and his sister, Jean McLammer; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Bill Watts is survived by his daughters, Terri | 4 | | (Denny) Fox and Penny (Don) Roch; five grandchildren; and six | 5 | | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it | 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | Charles William "Bill" Watts and extend our sincere | 9 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 10 | | him; and be it further | 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Bill Watts as an expression of our | 13 | | deepest sympathy. |
