SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Larry E. Dawson of Springfield, formerly of Pekin, who passed away on June 28, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Larry Dawson, the son of Chester and Isabelle (Rushing) Dawson, was born in Peoria on September 15, 1942; he married Cheryl Lee "Cheri" (Martin) Campbell on December 21, 1979; and

WHEREAS, Larry Dawson was a steamfitter for Local #353 for over 60 years, retiring as business manager in 2000; and

WHEREAS, Larry Dawson's warm smile and willingness to help others touched the lives of all who knew him; he was known for his kindness and dedication to his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Larry Dawson was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James "Jim" Dawson; his brothers-in-law, Kenneth "Kenny" Mitzelfelt and William "Bill" Martin; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Dawson, Jaqueline "Jackie" Mitzelfelt, and Louise Martin; and

WHEREAS, Larry Dawson is survived by his wife, Cheri; his children, Larry (Trudy) Dawson Jr., Debora "Debbie" (Brian) Ihnes, Patricia "Patty" Stancomb, and Nicole Campbell "Nikki" (Joe) Monari; his brother, Robert "Bob" (Norma) Dawson; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Larry E. Dawson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Larry Dawson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
