SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lee E. Salmonson of East Moline, who passed away on August 27, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Lee Salmonson, the son of Fred and Elizabeth Gerhardt Salmonson, was born in East Moline on November 12, 1935; he graduated from United Township High School in 1953; he served in the U.S. Army; he married Peggy S. Gooch Ogle in Hampton on May 19, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Lee Salmonson worked as a machinist for John Deere Harvester Works for 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Lee Salmonson was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, East Moline; and

WHEREAS, Lee Salmonson enjoyed traveling, golfing, and wintering in Florida; and

WHEREAS, Lee Salmonson was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Paul, Fred, Harold, Bill, Don, Marvin, Reuben, and Alice; and

WHEREAS, Lee Salmonson is survived by his wife; his stepchildren, David (Cindy) Ogle and Susan (Chuck) Fiser; his step-grandchildren, Tyler (Makenzie) Cornett, Alec Fiser, and Andrew Fiser; his step-great-grandson, Myles Cornett; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lee E. Salmonson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lee Salmonson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
