SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

415 ILCS 60/14.5 new

Amends the Illinois Pesticide Act. Provides that no person shall distribute, sell, offer for sale, or use glyphosate or any products containing glyphosate within the State. Provides that the Department of Agriculture may adopt any rules it deems necessary to implement the provisions.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning safety.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Pesticide Act is amended by adding Section 14.5 as follows:

(415 ILCS 60/14.5 new)

Sec. 14.5. Glyphosate prohibition.

(a) No person shall distribute, sell, offer for sale, or use glyphosate or any products containing glyphosate within this State.

(b) For the purposes of this Section, "glyphosate" means a synthetic compound that is a non-selective systemic herbicide, also known as N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine with a chemical formula of C₃H₈NO₅P.

(c) The Department of Agriculture may adopt any rules it deems necessary to implement the provisions of this Section.
