Amends the Counties Code. Provides that the county board of any county may regulate, for public health purposes, the keeping of livestock on properties that are 3 acres or less in size where more than 2 head of livestock per acre are being housed or maintained and the livestock are located within 500 feet of any neighboring residential dwelling. Defines "livestock". Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning local government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by adding the heading of Division 5-44 and by adding Section 5-44000 as follows:

Division 5-44. LIVESTOCK REGULATION

(55 ILCS 5/5-44000 new)

Sec. 5-44000. Regulation of livestock. The county board of any county may regulate, for public health purposes, the keeping of livestock on properties that are 3 acres or less in size where more than 2 head of livestock per acre are being housed or maintained and the livestock are located within 500 feet of any neighboring residential dwelling. For the purpose of this Section "livestock" means cattle, calves, swine, horses, and mules.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
