    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning temporary permits or registration.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing
5Section 3-407 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/3-407)  (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-407)
7    Sec. 3-407. Temporary permit or registration pending
8registration.
9    (a) Temporary Permit. The Secretary of State in his
10discretion may may grant a temporary permit or placard to
11operate a vehicle for which application for registration and
12certificate of title has been made where such application is
13accompanied by the proper fee, pending action upon said
14application by the Secretary of State. In lieu of payment of
15the proper fee, the Secretary of State may accept a bond
16therefor or a certificate of deposit, in the proper amount, and
17in the same form and subject to the same requirements as the
18payment of such fees or taxes on an installment basis, except
19that the fees or taxes due shall be payable and paid to the
20Secretary of State. The design, color and format of the
21temporary permit or placard shall be wholly within the
22discretion of the Secretary of State.
23    (b) Temporary Registration. The Secretary of State in his

1discretion may issue registration plates to an owner for which
2application and certificate of title has been made where such
3application is accompanied by the proper fee and tax, pending
4completion of the said application by the applicant and the
5Secretary, subject however to rules and regulations
6promulgated by the Secretary.
7    (c) Revocation. A temporary permit or registration is
8subject to revocation to the same extent as any other
9registration.
