SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/2-3.154 new

    Amends the School Code. Subject to appropriation, requires the State Board of Education to establish a 3-year pilot program in which grants are provided to school districts to equip school buses that exclusively transport children with disabilities with cameras. Provides that the State Board shall determine, by rule, the application process, which districts are to be awarded grants, and the amount of the grant to be awarded.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
52-3.154 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/2-3.154 new)
7    Sec. 2-3.154. School bus cameras; grant program. Subject to
8appropriation, the State Board of Education shall establish a
93-year pilot program in which grants are provided to school
10districts to equip school buses that exclusively transport
11children with disabilities, as defined under Article 14 of this
12Code, with cameras. The State Board of Education shall
13determine, by rule, the application process, which districts
14are to be awarded grants, and the amount of the grant to be
15awarded.
