SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

65 ILCS 5/6-4-7.5 new

Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Authorizes a mayor who deems that mob action is likely to occur at an event hosted by the municipality to: (i) enter into agreements with the necessary law enforcement agencies to deputize law enforcement personnel; (ii) change the fines for resisting a police officer or aiding escape; (iii) amend the hours that public parks, playgrounds, and other public spaces are open; and (iv) execute limited agreements with public and private entities for goods or services for security and logistics. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning local government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by adding Section 6-4-7.5 as follows:

(65 ILCS 5/6-4-7.5 new)

Sec. 6-4-7.5. Mob action. A mayor that deems that mob action, as defined in Section 25-1 of the Criminal Code of 1961, is likely to occur at an event hosted by the municipality, shall have the power to: (i) enter into agreements with the necessary law enforcement agencies to deputize law enforcement personnel; (ii) change the fines for resisting a police officer or aiding escape; (iii) amend the hours that public parks, playgrounds, and other public spaces are open; and (iv) execute limited agreements with public and private entities for goods or services for security and logistics.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
