SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
305 ILCS 5/1-8.6 new

    Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that a post-secondary student who is not a United States citizen and who is enrolled in a public university, college, or community college in this State is ineligible for any public aid benefits provided under the Code. Prohibits a public university, college, or community college in this State from counseling or providing information to such a student on how or where to apply for any public aid benefits provided under the Code.

1    AN ACT concerning public aid.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by
5adding Section 1-8.6 as follows:
 
6    (305 ILCS 5/1-8.6 new)
7    Sec. 1-8.6. Post-secondary student; non-citizen;
8ineligible. A post-secondary student who is not a United States
9citizen and who is enrolled in a public university, college, or
10community college in this State is ineligible for any benefits
11provided under this Code. No public university, college, or
12community college in this State shall counsel or provide
13information to such a student on how or where to apply for any
14benefits provided under this Code.
