HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The natural beauty of the State of Illinois
3accounts for much of the State's revenue and tourism from
4within the State and from other states as well; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The valley of the Rock River offers breathtaking
6sights and would undoubtedly benefit from projects to enhance
7its beauty and make the area more accessible to tourism;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
11SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that That we direct the Illinois
12Department of Transportation, in consultation with the
13Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, the
14Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Henry County, Lee
15County, Ogle County, Rock Island County, Whiteside County, and
16Winnebago County, to study the creation of a trail to connect
17with the existing Hennepin Canal State Trail, and enhance the
18active recreational attractiveness profile of northwestern
19Illinois; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That any such trail created in compliance with
21this Joint Resolution shall not include the condemnation of
22private property or any entry upon private property without the

1consent of the owner and that as much of the trail as possible
2shall be mapped out on existing public rights-of-way; and be it
3further
 
4    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
5delivered to the Secretary of the Illinois Department of
6Transportation, the Secretary of the Illinois Department of
7Commerce and Economic Opportunity, the Secretary of the
8Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and the county boards
9of Henry County, Lee County, Ogle County, Rock Island County,
10Whiteside County, and Winnebago County.
