HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives and Representative Monique D. Davis wish to congratulate Dozier and Helen Thomas on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Dozier and Helen Thomas were united in marriage on August 4, 1962; their marriage has been blessed with three sons: Frederick, Rodney, and Dozier, who received from their parents the wonderful upbringing that develops good citizens and wonderful, hard-working, and loving, adults; and

WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas spent many years in successful careers as educators and are faithful members of Bellevue Baptist Church, where they serve diligently in various capacities; and

WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas are, and have always been, a tower of strength, support, understanding, and limitless love for their family, and continue to live their lives with great dignity and genuine grace, demonstrating a continuing concern for human values and ideals, and in doing so have inspired others to do the same; and

WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas have earned the respect of all with whom they have come into contact and the love and affection of their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends; they have touched the lives of their family and many friends through the shining example of their marriage, which is a testament to the devotion and admiration they possess for one another; and

WHEREAS, For five decades, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas have supported one another through all of life's trials and tribulations and have stood by each other through life's many joys and triumphs; and

WHEREAS, The longevity of this marriage is a result of the love, hard work, and dedication that this couple has invested and truly marks a milestone in life's journey; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dozier and Helen Thomas on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dozier and Helen Thomas as an expression of our esteem and respect.
