HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois recognizes the historical
3tradition of ethical values and principles which are the basis
4of civilized society and upon which our great nation was
5founded; and
 
6    WHEREAS, These ethical values and principles have been the
7bedrock of society from the dawn of civilization, when they
8were known as the Seven Noahide Laws; and
 
9    WHEREAS, In order to secure a bright future for America, we
10must instill in our children a love of learning as well as a
11spirit of compassion, two of our nation's most cherished and
12enduring values; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The Lubavitch-Chabad movement has fostered and
14promoted these ethical values and principles in more than 3,000
15communities around the world, and through the educational and
16social service programs of their 32 centers in Illinois; and
 
17    WHEREAS, The importance of education and kindness was
18promoted in the teachings and programs of Rabbi Menachem Mendel
19Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe of righteous memory, by
20inspiring countless individuals to uphold these values in their
21own lives and communities; and

1    WHEREAS, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson is universally
2respected and revered for his concern for all humanity; and the
3nineteenth anniversary of his passing falls on July 5, 2011;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7July 5, 2011, the nineteenth anniversary of the passing of
8Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, be
9designated as "Education and Sharing Day" in the State of
10Illinois; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the Lubavitch-Chabad movement as a symbol of our
13respect and esteem.
