HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Howard "Bud" Scott of Fox Lake; and

WHEREAS, Howard Scott served his country with pride and distinction as a member of the United States Marine Corps; he was extremely proud to have served and continued to support the military through his work at the American Legion Post 703; and

WHEREAS, Howard Scott was a trustee and former president of the Lake Villa Fire Protection District Board; he helped preside over the construction and 2008 opening of its new substation in Lindenhurst; he was a former Lake County Board member and a former member and chairman of the Fox Waterway Agency Board; in addition, he was a not only a student, but also a teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent at Grant High School in Fox Lake; and

WHEREAS, Howard Scott was a highly visible personality in his local political circuit; he served as Lake Villa Republican precinct committeeman since the 1960s - often times running unopposed; he served on the Lake County Board; he was also a two-term director of the Fox Lake Chamber of Commerce, a Lake Villa Township trustee, and a member of the Lake County Planning Commission; and

WHEREAS, Howard Scott served as a Fox Lake police officer and a deputy with the Lake County Sheriff's Office for a time; and

WHEREAS, Howard Scott was preceded in death by his father, Howard E. Scott Sr.; and

WHEREAS, Howard Scott is survived by his wife of 52 years, Roberta Lou Scott; his children, Tom Scott, Kathy Scott, and Kristina (Michael) Kazlausky; his grandchildren, Sammy and Mick Kazlausky and Garrett Woolford; his mother, Cornelia Scott; his brother, Dr. Anthony (Judi) Scott; his sister, Meredith (John) Martin; his sisters-in-law, Sue (Roger) Tapleshay and Barb (Gary) Humphries; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Howard "Bud" Scott; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Howard Scott as an expression of our sympathy.
