HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Frank Arnold Bonora was born May 3, 1923, in Yatesboro, Pennsylvania; he later moved to Chicago to seek employment; and

WHEREAS, In 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps, serving in World War II; and

WHEREAS, He served in Italy, Germany, and France in the 328th Fighter Group, directing aircraft in bombing and strafing missions; and

WHEREAS, He was wounded by shrapnel at the Battle of Monte Cassino in Italy; and

WHEREAS, He later returned to Chicago and served as a community organizer in the Albany Park neighborhood, where he was recognized by Chicago Mayors Richard J. Daley, Jane Byrne, Harold Washington, and Richard M. Daley for his outstanding community service; and

WHEREAS, He is the oldest elected official in Lake County; and

WHEREAS, He has been married to Marjorie for 48 years; he is the proud father of Connie, Laura, Mike, and Kerry; the grandfather of Heather, Chelsea, Noah, Laura, Emily, and Zachary; and the great-grandfather of 10; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Frank Bonora on his 68-year delayed receipt of the Purple Heart Medal and thank him for his service to his country; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Frank Bonora as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
