HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Judy Hoffman, who passed away on July 18, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Judy Hoffman was a humanitarian, community advocate, and great friend to Rich Township for many years; and

WHEREAS, Judy Hoffman married her husband, Manny, in 1958; in 1963, they moved to Homewood and began building the Hoffman State Farm Insurance Agency; and

WHEREAS, Judy Hoffman served as the first chairman of the Cancer Support Board; she was also a board member of the Abby Foundation, the South Suburban Family Shelter, and many other organizations that benefit women, children, and families; and

WHEREAS, Judy Hoffman and her husband were inducted into the Homewood Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, Judy Hoffman was the recipient of the Cancer Support Center's Spirit of Life Award in 2008 for making a difference in the lives of people facing cancer; and

WHEREAS, Judy Hoffman will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her for her dedication and involvement in her community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Judy Hoffman; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Judy Hoffman as an expression of our sympathy.
