HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Sylvia Jo Oglesby on the occasion of her 75th birthday on February 15, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Sylvia Jo Oglesby is an active participant in numerous HIV/AIDS events, community AIDS walks, awards dinners, holiday celebrations, and other events; she is the founder and coordinator of the Clergy Leadership Summit for HIV/AIDS Community Outreach; she is the founder of the Bright Lights AIDS Run/Walk Team, which participates in the annual AIDS Foundation of Chicago Run/Walk event; she developed the Chicago Black Methodists for Church Renewal's Keeping Hope Alive HIV/AIDS Ministry (K.H.A.M.), and led the organization for 10 years; she coordinated short-term HIV/AIDS prevention programs for the Trinity United Church of Christ's Amani-Trinity United Health Corporation and for the Grand Boulevard Federation in Bronzeville; she is also actively involved with the Southside HIV/AIDS Resource Providers (S.H.A.R.P.), community outreach and support initiatives, and faith and community endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Sylvia Jo Oglesby is the founder and coordinator of Englewood Advocates of Grace for Lives, Education, and Service (E.A.G.L.E.S.); and

WHEREAS, Sylvia Jo Oglesby received a resolution from the Chicago City Council on December 1, 2004 for her work in organizing Chicago World AIDS Day activities; and

WHEREAS, Sylvia Jo Oglesby will celebrate her 75th birthday with a public party in her honor on February 18, 2012 at Hartzell Memorial United Methodist Church in Chicago; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Sylvia Jo Oglesby on the occasion of her 75th birthday and wish her continued success and happiness in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Sylvia Jo Oglesby as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
