HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Captain Timothy J. Becker of the Illinois State Police on his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Captain Becker will retire on February 29, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Timothy J. Becker began his law enforcement career with the Menard County Sheriff's Department in 1987; he joined the Illinois State Police after graduating from Cadet Class #82 in 1988; and

WHEREAS, His first patrol assignment upon graduation was in Illinois State Police District #3 in Chicago; his second patrol assignment was Illinois State Police District #9, in the Sangamon County area; and

WHEREAS, While in District #9, he served on the Operation Valkyrie Team with his K-9, "Boozer", and served on the Tactical Response Team; in 1996, he transferred to the Illinois State Police's Office of Inspection and Audits and was promoted to Sergeant in November; and

WHEREAS, In 1998, he was promoted to Master Sergeant; in 2001, he was transferred to the Illinois State Police's Office of Governmental Affairs; in 2002, he was promoted to Lieutenant and shortly after he was appointed to serve as the Illinois State Police Legislative Liaison; and

WHEREAS, In 2005, he was promoted to Captain; in 2011, he was appointed by Illinois State Police Director Hiram Grau to serve as his Chief of Staff; and

WHEREAS, During his career with the Illinois State Police, he also served as a Motorcycle Officer; and

WHEREAS, While serving as the legislative liaison, Captain Becker played an instrumental role in the passage of Public Act 095-1009, which assisted the Illinois State Police in securing a constant source of funding to acquire new patrol cars to replace aging fleet squad cars; and

WHEREAS, During his career, Captain Becker embodied the motto of the Illinois State Police, "Integrity, Service, and Pride", always putting the needs of the department first and working to make the department better; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Captain Timothy Becker on his retirement and thank him for his years of service to the people of the State of Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Captain Timothy Becker as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
