SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Percy Lee McGee, Jr.; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Percy Lee McGee, Jr. was born on October 7, 1947,
5at Homer G. Phillips Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri; his
6parents were Percy Lee McGee, Sr. and Susie Lou McGee; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Percy Lee McGee, Jr. attended Marshall and Turner
8Middle Schools; he began shining shoes at the age of 12 years
9old and shined the shoes of Dick Gregory and many other famous
10people; he subsequently graduated from Vashon High School
11(originally Hadley Technical High School) in St. Louis,
12Missouri before graduating from Bailey Technical School in
131976; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Percy Lee McGee, Jr. served in the United States
15Army until his honorable discharge in 1968; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Percy Lee McGee, Jr. was employed as a barber in
17East St. Louis for 30 years; he then worked at the United
18States Postal Service in St. Louis, Missouri until his
19retirement; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Percy Lee McGee, Jr. will be dearly missed by his

1wife, Eula Dee McGee, whom he married on February 9, 1969, in
2St. Louis, Missouri; his children and their spouses, Samantha
3(Tyler) Hinton, Zeran (Kendra) McGee, Armonda Fisher, LaDrena
4McGee, and Derryl Fisher; and his 15 grandchildren and 2
5great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8his family and friends, the passing of Percy Lee McGee, Jr.;
9and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Percy Lee McGee, Jr. as an
12expression of our sympathy.
