SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Michael Patrick Dentino of Peoria, who passed away on December 14, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Michael Dentino was born on October 3, 1930, in Peoria; he was the son of Michael and Arnita (Barto) Dentino; he married Margaret C. Crowley on October 23, 1954, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Michael Dentino earned his bachelors degree in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame, graduating magna cum laude; he was also a varsity letterman on the Notre Dame fencing team and was named the University of Notre Dame (Peoria Chapter) Man of the Year in 1973; and

WHEREAS, Michael Dentino was employed in various managerial positions with Caterpillar Inc.; he retired as Caterpillar's Manager of U.S. Sales Support after 33 years of service; he then served as the Vice President of Sales for Gibbs-Cook Equipment Company in Des Moines and served on the board of directors for Aggregate Equipment & Supply Company in East Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Michael Dentino served as vice president of the Bradley University Leadership Development Center and as the adjunct professor of comedy at Bradley; and

WHEREAS, Michael Dentino was an active member of the Peoria Players Theatre, CAT Chorus, Conklin's Dinner Theatre, Zellmer's Dinner Theatre, Peoria Ballet, Tazwood Dance Company, and Peoria Corn Stock Theatre, where he was a charter member; he also served on the Chagrin Falls Little Theatre Board and the Planning Committee for the National Comedy Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, Michael Dentino was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights and was a lector at both St. Thomas and St. Mark Catholic Church in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Michael Dentino was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his parents; and his sister, Dianna Basso; and

WHEREAS, Michael Dentino is survived by his children, Michael III (Debra Duzinskas), Deirdre (Gregory) Clemons, Domine (John) King, Dianna (John Gielow), Dr. Andrew (Monica), D'Arcy Conley, Matthew, Father Darren, Douglas (Terilyn), and Dr. Daniel Dentino; his sisters, Grace Kelly and Sue O'Donnell; his brothers, Dr. Mauro Dentino, Verne Dentino, and Vernon Dentino; his 35 grandchildren; and his great-grandson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Michael Patrick Dentino; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Michael Dentino as an expression of our sympathy.
