SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Allen W. Vaughn of East Galesburg, who
4passed away on January 16, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Allen Vaughn was born on July 19, 1948, in Los
6Angeles, California; he was the son of Noyce and Lucille
7Phillips Vaughn; he married Mary L. Pigeon on September 19,
82003, in Galesburg; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Allen Vaughn served with the United States Army
10from October 12, 1966, to September 21, 1969; he was the
11recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense
12Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, 2 Purple Hearts, the
13Bronze Star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, 2 Overseas Bars, and
14the Sharpshooter Badge (M14); and
 
15    WHEREAS, Allen Vaughn was the owner and operator of
16Multi-Facets, which designed and manufactured rimless eye wear
17in Corona, California; in July of 2003, he and his wife
18purchased and became the owners and operators of the Mobil Gas
19Stations in Galesburg and Knoxville; they later owned only the
20Knoxville location; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Allen Vaughn was a member of Harry Philblad

1American Legion Post 749 of Knoxville; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Allen Vaughn was preceded in death by his brother,
3John, and his sister, Shirley; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Allen Vaughn is survived by his wife, Mary L.
5Vaughn; his son, Kevin Vaughn; his daughters, Melanie (Robert)
6Walker and Adriana (Rusty) Free; his grandchildren, Madison
7Walker, Austin Free, Joshua Vaughn, Megan Vaughn, Callie Free,
8and Reed Walker; his parents; his brother, Michael L. Vaughn;
9and his sister, Cynthia (David) Ziminskee; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12his family and friends, the passing of Allen W. Vaughn; and be
13it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Allen Vaughn as an expression of our
16sympathy.
