SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Raymond Eugene Penn of Collinsville, who
4passed away on February 24, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born April 18, 1940, in Poplar Bluff,
6Missouri; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Mr. Penn retired as a foreman in 1992 from Granite
8City Steel after many years of dedicated service in the hot
9strip department; he was a devoted minister, serving at the
10Greenville Church of Christ for 5 years, and as the assistant
11minister at the Maplewood Church of Christ in Cahokia; he had
12also served as a teacher at the Christian Academy of Greater
13St. Louis and as a teacher's assistant in the Edwardsville
14School District; and
 
15    WHEREAS, He was the past president of Camp Neotez; he had
16also served as a camp director and teacher; he was a 32nd
17Degree Mason and was past master of the Granite City Lodge No.
18877 and a member of Ainad Shriner's Temple; and
 
19    WHEREAS, He will be remembered for the love and special
20times shared with his family and friends; and

1    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Paul V.
2Penn; and his sister, Dorothy Penn; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Raymond Penn is survived by his wife, Lucille, nee
4Alfaro, Penn, whom he married on January 13, 1962, in Alton;
5his children, Bruce and Ruth Anne Hawkins, Nancy and David
6Baker, Catrenia and Todd Hayes, and Lorri and Dennis Shup; his
7grandchildren, Joseph, Laurel, Roma, Carmen, Shyli, William,
8Emily, Benjamin, and Grant; his great-grandchildren, Timothy,
9Sydney, Samuel, Lordis, and Michael; his brothers, Harold Penn
10and Terry Penn; and other extended family and friends;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14his family and friends, the passing of Raymond Penn; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Raymond Penn as a symbol of our
18sincere sympathy.
