SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Raymond Eugene Penn of Collinsville, who passed away on February 24, 2012; and

WHEREAS, He was born April 18, 1940, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Penn retired as a foreman in 1992 from Granite City Steel after many years of dedicated service in the hot strip department; he was a devoted minister, serving at the Greenville Church of Christ for 5 years, and as the assistant minister at the Maplewood Church of Christ in Cahokia; he had also served as a teacher at the Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis and as a teacher's assistant in the Edwardsville School District; and

WHEREAS, He was the past president of Camp Neotez; he had also served as a camp director and teacher; he was a 32nd Degree Mason and was past master of the Granite City Lodge No. 877 and a member of Ainad Shriner's Temple; and

WHEREAS, He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Paul V. Penn; and his sister, Dorothy Penn; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Penn is survived by his wife, Lucille, nee Alfaro, Penn, whom he married on January 13, 1962, in Alton; his children, Bruce and Ruth Anne Hawkins, Nancy and David Baker, Catrenia and Todd Hayes, and Lorri and Dennis Shup; his grandchildren, Joseph, Laurel, Roma, Carmen, Shyli, William, Emily, Benjamin, and Grant; his great-grandchildren, Timothy, Sydney, Samuel, Lordis, and Michael; his brothers, Harold Penn and Terry Penn; and other extended family and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Raymond Penn; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Raymond Penn as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
