SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Daniel Molloy of Rantoul, who passed away on September 8, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Molloy was born on August 26, 1925, in Rantoul, to Edward J. and Mary (Sullivan) Molloy; he married Loretta Coffey on May 1, 1948, at St. Boniface Church in Sadorus; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Molloy was a 1943 graduate of Rantoul Township High School; he farmed in the Rantoul area until his retirement in 1967; he was involved in real estate and was part of Shelhouse/Molloy Realty; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Molloy was a lifelong member of St. Malachy Catholic Church and was a 4th degree Grand Knight and charter member of the Rantoul Knights of Columbus; he served as member and past president for the Rantoul Township High School school board, Rantoul Exchange Club, and the Rantoul Chamber of Commerce; he was a past member of the Champaign County Board of Realtors and the Rantoul Area Multi-List Agency; he was a past trustee of the Rantoul Village Board and served for a short time as mayor pro-tem; he was named Citizen of the Year in 1976; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Molloy was an avid sports fan of both St. Malachy School and Rantoul Township High School; he was also a member of the RTHS Booster Club; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Molloy was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta; his parents, Edward and Mary Molloy; and a brother; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Molloy is survived by his children, Mary (Nick) Riddle, Agnes (Rod) Roseman, Edward (Debra) Molloy, Therese (Dennis) Bergman, Daniel (Angela) Molloy, Catherine (Michael) Bass, Margaret Bottom, John Molloy, Helen Peffers, Patrick (Carlene) Molloy, and Dennis (Laurel) Molloy; his sister, Rita Shelhouse; his 25 grandchildren; and his 8 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Daniel Molloy, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to the family of Daniel Molloy as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
