 1                     AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 666

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill  666  by  replacing
 3    everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 4        "Section  5.  The  Illinois Exotic Weed Act is amended by
 5    changing Section 3 as follows:

 6        (525 ILCS 10/3) (from Ch. 5, par. 933)
 7        Sec. 3.  Designated Exotic Weeds.   Japanese  honeysuckle
 8    (Lonicera  japonica),  multiflora rose (Rosa multiflora), and
 9    purple  loosestrife  (Lythrum  salicaria),  common  buckthorn
10    (Rhamnus cathartica), glossy  buckthorn  (Rhamnus  frangula),
11    saw-toothed  buckthorn  (Rhamnus  arguta), dahurian buckthorn
12    (Rhamnus davurica), Japanese  buckthorn  (Rhamnus  japonica),
13    Chinese  buckthorn  (Rhamnus  utilis),  and  kudzu  (Pueraria
14    lobata)  are  hereby  designated exotic weeds.  Upon petition
15    the Director of Natural  Resources,  by  rule,  shall  exempt
16    varieties  of  any  species  listed  in  this Act that can be
17    demonstrated by published or current research not  to  be  an
18    exotic weed as defined in Section 2.

20        Section  99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect upon
21    becoming law.".
