AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 843

2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 843 by replacing
3 everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4     "Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing
5 Sections 285-5 and 285-10 as follows:
 
6     (60 ILCS 1/285-5)
7     Sec. 285-5. Payment of bond fund balance to township.
8     (a) Except as provided in subsection (b), whenever Whenever
9 all the bonds of any township have been fully paid and canceled
10 and there remains in the hands of the county collector of taxes
11 or county treasurer, after the payment, any balance to the
12 credit of the bond fund of the township, the county collector
13 of taxes or county treasurer shall pay to the supervisor of the
14 township the balance of the fund in his hands, taking a receipt
15 of the supervisor for the payment.
16     (b) Beginning on the effective date of this amendatory Act
17 of the 93rd General Assembly and through December 31, 2004,
18 whenever all the bonds of any township have been fully paid and
19 canceled and there remains any balance to the credit of the
20 bond fund of the township, including any amounts that were in
21 the bond fund prior to the payment in full and cancellation of
22 the bonds, in the hands of the township supervisor, the balance
23 may be appropriated and expended in accordance with Section
24 285-10.

3     Sec. 285-10. Use of moneys. Moneys paid to the township
4 supervisor and moneys in the hands of the township supervisor
5 under Section 285-5, may be appropriated and expended for
6 defraying the general charges and expenses of the township; for
7 laying out, making, and repairing the roads and bridges of the
8 township and purchasing materials, implements, and machinery
9 for those undertakings; for the maintenance and operation of
10 open spaces; and for the payment of any outstanding orders, all
11 in the manner and proportions the legal voters of the township
12 determine at their annual township meeting or special township
13 meeting duly called for that purpose.

15     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
16 becoming law.".
