SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
235 ILCS 5/9-2b new

    Amends the Liquor Control Act of 1934. Provides that in any township that has voted to prohibit the retail sale of alcoholic liquor, the township board may authorize the local liquor control commissioner to issue a special event retailer's license (not-for-profit) authorizing the sale of beer for up to 7 days per year for up to 30 years at an agricultural show that is held on privately-owned property that is within the township, but is not within the corporate limits of a city, village, or incorporated town. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning alcoholic liquor.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Liquor Control Act of 1934 is amended by
5 adding Section 9-2b as follows:
 
6     (235 ILCS 5/9-2b new)
7     Sec. 9-2b. Prohibition against sale of alcoholic liquor;
8 exception. Notwithstanding any provision in this Act to the
9 contrary, in any township that has voted to prohibit the retail
10 sale of alcoholic liquor under Section 9-2, the township board
11 may authorize the local liquor control commissioner to issue a
12 special event retailer's license (not-for-profit) authorizing
13 the sale of beer for up to 7 days per year for up to 30 years at
14 an agricultural show that is held on privately-owned property
15 that is within the township, but is not within the corporate
16 limits of a city, village, or incorporated town.
 
17     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
18 becoming law.
